Sentinel Forms

Sentinel Forms (2018–2026) explores architecture as a dialogue of form, light, and geometry, photographed primarily throughout Vancouver, BC. The collection examines the city's architectural identity, from the concrete brutalism of Arthur Erickson's Simon Fraser University to contemporary landmarks like Vancouver House and The Butterfly, and expands abroad to works including Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim, Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall, and AL_A's MAAT in Lisbon, examining the relationship between place, culture, and architectural design. Rather than traditional documentation, the work embraces abstraction, using perspective, compression, repetition, and light and shadow to reduce structures into pattern, texture, and rhythm. Sentinel Forms invites viewers to experience buildings not just as places, but as visual compositions, offering a Vancouver centric lens on structures gathered from around the world.
