Kens-Cedar-Cottage

Kensington Cedar Cottage is a small area of East Vancouver and all the images are shot within the boundaries of this area during the COVID-19 lock down in 2020-22. Work from home was in full effect and there wasn't much getting out other than to take breaks to go for a walk. I'd stalk alleys, shoot images of vintage cars and hunt for the miniature tree houses people had built into the bases of trees. The neighbourhood would reveal it's own set of tropes and identity from the mundane. I set some constraints around how I shot these images for consistency. I used a Canon FD 35mm f2 SSC lens set to f2 and added a red filter to the lens to shape how colours would render when switched to B&W in Lightroom. This effect emulated the feeling and mood at the time. Exploring a new neighbourhood while under the duress of a global pandemic.
